wow, i definitely stand by my theory that moving is the 2nd worst thing you can do to yourself next to stabbing both eyes with a dull knife, however, i’m pretty sure i would take the knife right about now…

…what? it’s very difficult

i should be asleep

it’s been over a year since that last post…

hahahahahahahahahahaha

so i’ve spent this late evening looking through my high school yearbooks when i couldn’t help but notice a trend. as the years go on, there are fewer signatures from friends or aquaintances of mine, but with those deteriorating numbers, comes longer, more meaningful messages.

i read through these notes left from people i’d have considered some of my best friends at the time, but once that summer ended, we got a taste of real life. my apartment contributed to a few gatherings of said friends, but as we all got settled in our new homes at college, or in different cities, new lives began to take over, and those so-called friends, have been heard from so seldomly.

now, i’m not one to say its their fault, and in all honesty, it’s probably mine. as a read through these promises that i made with a pen to stay in touch, i realize that there is always an excuse for why i’m too busy, or why i can’t make one of my friends graduate perfomances, or why i’ve let these friends, who i promised myself everyday i’d stay in touch with, slip through my hands. and at what hardship to myself would it be to say “hi” with technology being what it is today

maybe its a longing to have a conversation based on the fact that we all encountered the same thing everyday, or that we ate lunch in room 3-3 monday through friday, so it was convenient. what is keeping me from checking in? its tough when there is too much to say, but we can never remember what to talk about when the opportunity presents itself.

there are certainly a few entries in this not-so-old yearbook that i cherish, and unfortunately, its those authors whom i’ve fallen furthest from. the nicest words were said about my friendship towards them, and since we have all walked off that podium, i feel like i have let them down.

and i have talked to a few of them, but it always ends abruptly, awkwardly. a few of these entries strike me…

“be sure to keep in contact because i need someone needs to take the cherries from my milkshakes”
“pps…show this to your wife someday”
“remember when we used to stalk you?”
“i’m excited man!”
“i’m so glad we met…*high-5*”
“jack-in-the-face”
“remember when i used to chase you on the playground?”

and then the entries from admins and teachers wishing me the best to go far in life…

haven’t really done that yet, at least, not to my own standards. they say a man is only as good as the company he keeps, and i have failed to stay in touch with the good company i had the privilage of having. sometimes you wish the world wasn’t so big, even though its smaller than the imagination gives it credit.

i have bounced around between two states over the last 3 years and i am embarking on a 4th trip. hopefully i’ll find the “time” to make things happen.

to all those of you who might have the oddball memory such as myself to identify yourself from those quotes, i do hope that you understand how much i cherish our friendship, and i hope you would still call it a friendship.

and to everyone i’ve ever known: i hope your life is going where you want it to. i’ll catch up eventually.

i hope someday you’ll read your yearbook and see who cared about you. i hope my journey will lead me back to those people. the list of those to keep in touch with for the rest of my life is long. guess it’s time to upload some information to all of their brains.

so aside from complete devastation, i guess life is grand.

scratch that, i’m flat out depressed about it. something that i’ve been looking forward to every day since i left it has turned around to forget about me, because i (on paper) was in the wrong place at the wrong time. all the phone calls, all the emails, nothing.

i guess it could be temporary or permanent. my fate lies in the hands of those in the position. being first call on the waitlist is a fancy way of hearing “you know, we’ll tell you you’re first in line so you don’t get too sad, but i don’t count on anything changing.”

other than that. chili’s sucks and the bar is cool.
